On June 17, 2022, in St. Petersburg, the State Corporation Rosatom and OJSC Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant. V.N. Gulidov" (OJSC "Krastsvetmet") signed a cooperation agreement.
The document was signed by Kirill Komarov, First Deputy General Director of Rosatom State Corporation, and Mikhail Diaghilev, General Director of JSC Krastsvetmet. The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
The goals of cooperation are to increase efficiency in the implementation of research projects aimed at solving both fundamental problems and practice-oriented tasks in the development of new materials and substances, hydrometallurgy of rare and rare earth metals, processing of man-made waste. Cooperation is planned in the areas of development and production of sorption materials for the selective extraction of uranium, scandium, rare and rare earth metals, as well as the development of technologies for the extraction of lithium from hydromineral raw materials. Promising areas of cooperation can be the processing of radioactive waste, the production of radiopharmaceuticals (nuclear medicine), the processing of secondary raw materials and materials, in particular magnets for wind turbines and batteries for energy storage systems. The parties plan to increase cooperation, including for the implementation of the Agreement of Intentions between the Government of the Russian Federation and the State Corporation Rosatom in order to develop the high-tech area "Technologies of new materials and substances" in the Russian Federation.
Aleksey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, noted: “Implementation of the Technology of New Materials and Substances roadmap is an ambitious task, the solution of which should reduce the technological gap by 2024, and by 2030, become one of the world’s technological leaders in such areas as polymer composite materials, additive technologies, rare and rare earth metals, as well as new structural and functional materials and initial components and substances for them.
Mikhail Diaghilev, General Director of OAO Krastsvetmet, said: “We are developing technologies for the production of critical materials necessary for the implementation of the energy transition. Their deficit is experienced not only by Russia, and it is expected that in the coming years it will increase.
