The government updated the list of strategic types of mineral raw materials

The government expanded the list of key strategic minerals, which has not been updated since 1996.

Now, in the new order of the Government of the Russian Federation, a norm is fixed on the need to update the list of mineral raw materials every 3 years.

The list has been extended to the full composition of rare earth metals, including the light (cerium) group, and separate items for rare metals have been included.

The presence of the approved list allows to exercise control at the state level over the effective use of the mineral resource base, to apply measures of state support for field development projects.

As part of the adopted order, the Government instructed the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, together with the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, to provide priority funding for the reproduction of the base of scarce types of strategic mineral raw materials at the expense of funds from the federal budget.
